WASHINGTON -- A can`t miss rung on the ladder to celebrity status in Washington: Newly seated Sen. Scott Brown will write a book about his life leading up to his upset election to succeed the late Sen. Edward Kennedy.
Brown spokeswoman Gail Gitcho said Wednesday the Massachusetts Republican hopes to provide "insight and encouragement" to others and to ensure the record is "complete and accurate." She said that part of the book`s proceeds will go to charity.

NEW ORLEANS -- The Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints are celebrating Mardi Gras-style.
Carnival floats carrying players, coaches and team owner Tom Benson started rolling through downtown New Orleans for a victory parade Tuesday.
The celebration comes two days after the team earned its first championship in franchise history. Quarterback Drew Brees and other players were throwing beads into the crowds as confetti floated in the air. One float carried an oversized replica of the Super Bowl trophy.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Rep. John Murtha, the tall, gruff-mannered former Marine who became the de facto voice of veterans on Capitol Hill and later an outspoken and influential critic of the Iraq War, died Monday.
He was 77. The Pennsylvania Democrat had been suffering complications from gallbladder surgery. He died at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Va., spokesman Matthew Mazonkey said.

| Toyota begins making fixes |

Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. said its dealers across the country have received the parts, information and training they need to fix accelerator pedals in recalled Toyotas and that repairs have begun. The repair takes about 30 minutes to complete.
The company also said it has begun mailing letters to owners of recalled vehicles to tell them when to bring their vehicles in. When they get the letter, owners should contact a local Toyota dealer to schedule an appointment.
